FREE Dementia Community Resources
FREE Dementia Community Resources joined Crowdfund Walsall2 weeks ago

We are driven by a powerful purpose to create printed Dementia information packs that contain valuable resources and information on local events that will change lives of residents of Streetly, Walsall, and surrounding areas for those who aren’t online. In a time when so much support is just a click away, we refuse to leave behind those who can’t or don’t use technology. These information packs aren’t just paper and ink; they essential lifelines for individuals & families facing Dementia. These packs will provide accessible, local, and easy to understand information, offering vital help to those most vulnerable in our community. Many residents feel isolated and unsure where to turn. Too many feel helpless in their own homes but we’re determined to step up with action, bridging the digital divide to bring printed support to the people who need it. Additionally, FREE Dementia Friend sessions will be delivered across community, groups, companies & schools as part of our outreach drive

The community hall will be open to adults in the local area from 11am to 3pm on a Saturday, twice a month for 6 months. We want this warm space to commence in September 2025. We will provide hot drinks, cake, biscuits, soup and roll, sandwiches, other hot food items and light refreshments. There will be 1 hour of activity each Saturday to include art and craft sessions, computer technology lessons, motivational talks on various subjects including entrepreneurship, budgeting, parenting and marriage, mental health and general health and well being. In addition we will have games and film watching afternoons, Zumba exercise classes, short walking trips to local parks, a skills sharing day and also a warm garments sharing day. While a warm space is provided with heating, food and fellowship, there is an opportunity to not only relax, eat and drink but also to share and be loved. With your support we can partner with others, serve and make a difference in the Delves community.

LGK SENSORY GARDEN
LGK SENSORY GARDEN joined Crowdfund Walsall1 month ago

We want to build a new sensory garden which will cater for an all year round outdoor space for people suffering from dementia, mental health conditions and social isolation. We will also be working with partially blind beneficiaries in which the 5 senses will be stimulated within the garden which is a proven method of outdoor therapy for these conditions. The garden will have strong scents to stimulate the smell and a range of colours forming a seasonal and all year round joyful outdoor natural space. There will be outdoor seating and the garden will be easily accessible for disabled people and those with mobility issues. It will also be designed in a way that those with visually impaired conditions can still enjoy the space using their remaining senses. The garden will form part of the therapy sessions for the dementia cafe, befriending programme and much more. It will also be used as an opportunity to stage some intergenerational activities with the beneficiaries younger families.

Repair Café Walsall: Fix, Mend, Connect
Repair Café Walsall: Fix, Mend, Connect joined Crowdfund Walsall1 month ago

Our aim is to set up a repair café in the centre of Walsall, bring people together, empower the community, save the planet and eat cake. Simple really! A Repair Cafe is a community space where people can bring their broken household items to be fixed by specialist volunteers who will share their knowledge with the community. Although initially conceived and facilitated by Urban Hax staff, our aim is to engage with volunteers to help set up and take ownership of the repair café thereby empowering the local community, providing opportunities to learn new or use existing skills and control the direction of travel. This initial funding will allow us to draw together the team and resources to plan and run the café for the first 6 months. After this we see the café becoming self-sustaining. Repair Café Walsall is a great opportunity for the local community to help save the planet, meet people, enjoy a chat with tea and cake, and learn new skills in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
