Good News - People are living longer and the "100 year life" is within reach of many of us.
But Longevity brings many challenges such as becoming inactive and managing one or more long term health conditions, such as risk of falls, parkinsons, arthritis, heart disease, etc.
PAL CIC was formed in recognition of these challenges for older people. We know the benefits of physical activities do not change as we get older. If anything, it becomes more important to remain 'functionally fit' to carry out day to day activities, if we are to enjoy quality of life in later years.
"Muscle and bone strengthening and balance activities continue to have great health benefits for all adults, including older adults age 65 years and over" (Public Health England & the Centre for Ageing Better - Commissioned Review).
PAL CIC works on an out-reach basis across Birmingham, The Black Country and the Midlands. We provide specialist evidenced based Falls Prevention physical activities to older adults at risk of falls due to lower limb weaknress, poor balance, slow reaction time, or a comination of these symptoms. Activities are delivered by experienced specialist trained instructors.
Our mission is to support older adults, enabling them to take responsibility for managing their long term health conditions in order to live happier, healthier and independent lives.
During the COVID Pandemic we have delivered live online sessions for groups and individuals using ZOOM. The sessions have achieved outstanding results in helping adults mitigate the progressive effect of the pandemic on their physical and mental health, by improving their mood and energy levels.
Everyone tells us they are eagerly awaiting the lifting of lockdown, allowing them once again to meet up with friends in a community group setting, whilst also increasing their physical strength and balance.
