The project seeks to engage the community (predominantly men, but all would be welcome) in a project which supports those isolated and inactive to take part in projects which increase wellbeing and get people active. Based a Goscote Greenacres the project would host supported fishing sessions which develop skills and bring people together. Those who don’t have a keen interest in fishing but would like to develop hobbies and interests would take part in the men’s shed element, or community garden.
What we'll deliver:
- develop wood working shop on site
- to offer volunteer experience 5 days /week
- weekly supported fishing sessions for all
Why it's a great idea:
being situated in one of the most deprived wards in the borough, the project gives us a chance to engage the local community in useful and constructive work whether through the the workshop or fishing as a means to help tackle isolation and mental health issues.
Steps to get it done:
- construction of workshop
- weekly fishing sessions
- workshop open for sessions
