The idea
Willenhall Carnival is run for the community of Willenhall by the community . It is a not for profit organisation that aims to bring affordable entertainment into the Memorial Park for all to enjoy. Each year a Carnival Royalty is elected from within the Community and as part of the Queens duties and Royalty they attend local events during the year to promote carnival and support fundraising events.
The Carnival allows local community groups to have a unique platform to perform in the main arena, while the Band Stage allows up coming musicians an opportunity to perform in front of their family and community. The Carnival also allows local charities to put on stalls to promote and advertise their activated to gain interest from the community. We encourage volunteers to support the event and allow them to learn and understand how to run and manage a local event to help keep the yearly tradition going.
What we'll deliver
- 3000 local attendees all keen to give back and support local businesses
- 24 local community performers and artists performing in the main arena and on the Truck Stage
- Publicity to over 2000 online followers and promotion of local business attending the event
- A platform for local community groups to promote what they do in the community and raise funds for their group
- Create a platform for social cohesion within the community following the pandemic
Why it's a great idea
Creating a platform for socialisation: There are a great many people that don’t get the opportunity to socialise. Being able to attend carnivals are a way to get the community out of the house for a day. They don’t need to make any long term commitments. The cost is minimal, and they can socialise as much or as little as they want.
A family affair: It is very common for families to come together to attend a carnival together as a group. This is a positive feature of this type of entertainment. There is not a lot of entertainment that applies to all age groups where it does not come with a substantial cost. Families who are on a tight budget can go to a parade and have hours of enjoyment without having to pay for it.
