The idea
We will provide a welcoming environment where women can meet and build meaningful friendships. This space will be inclusive of women from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
Regular workshops will focus on a variety of subjects, including:
Mental health and well-being
Personal finance and entrepreneurship
Creative arts and hobbies (e.g.painting, writing, photography, social media, podcasting, book club)
Career development and leadership skills - including CV building and personal brand workshops.
Resilience & Confidence
The goal is to equip women with both hard and soft skills that improve their self-confidence, economic independence, and emotional resilience.
The proposed building is a grade 2 listed building in the centre of Lichfield as this is the perfect gateway for the Midlands and this is what we are pitching for- as the space is ideal for what we need.
What we'll deliver
- Take on a commercial lease for the proposed girls club space - based in Lichfield
- Develop partnerships with local businesses and colleges
- Source local artists, teachers, specialists etc for workshops
Why it's a great idea
Our project will directly address the social issue of loneliness, especially among women, by offering:
Increased social connection and community: Members will have a safe space to form meaningful friendships and support networks.
Improved mental health: By fostering a sense of belonging and offering skills that boost self-esteem, we will combat feelings of isolation and promote better mental health.
Economic empowerment: Upskilling workshops will provide women with new tools to improve their financial and career opportunities.
Personal growth and self-worth: Workshops that focus on personal development and resilience will enhance self-esteem and self-confidence, encouraging women to pursue new opportunities and advocate for themselves.
There will also be further opportunities to develop the offerings available and also connect with other local female owned businesses to partner and benefit the community- such as The Girls Club merch.
Steps to get it done
- Commercial lease for 1 year - £15,000
By creating this empowering, collaborative environment, The Girls Club will work toward long-term social change by not only combatting loneliness but by providing women with the tools and support to thrive in all areas of their lives.
