We want to provide participants of Walsall Wood Disability Team with the correct kit and equipment to represent their club and increase opportunities to participate in a variety of sports.
The Albion Foundation is a registered charity with links to West Bromwich Albion. The Disability Department aims to work with children and adults who have SEND needs to ensure they are active, can participate in sport and can access as many sporting opportunities as they would like. Our coaches have a wide range of experience with various disabilities from physicals and sensory impairments to hidden disabilities and learning difficulties. As part of our partnership with Walsall Wood FC, we are looking to improve our offer within Walsall to encourage more individuals with a disability to take up sport and represent our Disability Team in the Sandwell Inclusion League. We are looking to put on multi-sports and football sessions with the aim of attracting new participants and providing them with opportunities to play for our team. We believe in breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity within our sessions.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We already have a fantastic Disability offer in West Bromwich and we would like to replicate this in Walsall as we believe there are not enough opportunities out there for our individuals. We have the support of West Bromwich Albion FC, as well as a local deaf group and autism friendly group who's members attend our sessions. We believe that the opportunities we offer can greatly improve individuals lives and those around them, as we can link parents up with groups and share expertise and best practice. We also believe that it will improve not just our individuals physical wellbeing, but also their mental wellbeing whereby they are attending sessions where they can feel included and can be challenged in a comfortable learning environment. Our individuals have been with us for a number of years and have grown through our infants groups to our adults groups.
Steps to get it done:
Our staff are committed to encouraging individuals to lead a healthy lifestyle by working with thousands of children and adults across our Wellbeing sessions throughout the week in a safe and healthy environment where their happiness and learning is our priority. We encourage them to become independent in their activities and allow them to teach others through our volunteer programme which we direct our adult participants to who may be interested in giving back and working alongside us. We allow them to contribute to their community in a number of ways and we motivate them to go out and have a positive life, through sport and leading a healthy lifestyle.
