Kirklees Council

Joined Spacehive on 22 March 2019

Thornhill Lees Village Hall & Social Centre has been running since 1976.  It was the first community centre for the Thornhill Lees neighbourhood of Dewsbury.

The main aims of the centre are to support local older and vulnerable people; to tackle social isolation, poverty, ill health.  A range of activities take place in the centre each week, including the dementia group, stay & Play, Craft group, Bingo and martial arts. Groups and residents can rent space for events and activities.

The centre has had disabled access since 2008, but the disabled access ramp was made of wood.  This has rotted, and needs replaced.  The centre has taken advice on DDA requirements and wants to install a new ramp that will enable access for all through the same entrance.
