The idea
We need to complete the male, female, disabled toilets and showers. We have all the sanitary fittings but require professional skills to plumb everything in to a final finish. The cost of completing both areas is around £10,000. This is our target. In addition, if we gain sufficient community support/early interest and our project is deemed a successful application, we could unlock £5,000 from Kirklees Growing Great Places fund, effectively £5,000 matched.
We are hosting an event on Friday 7th November 6pm onwards. Entry to the bonfire can be made in donations on spacehive £5 per adult, £3 a child, Under 10s are free. Just write the lead name or names of your clan when donating eg Richard, Mary, John Smith. Equally you can pay on the gate on the day. The more we raise on Spacehive the better chance we have of gaining matched funding. Car parking will be limited to the road. The event will occur, we have a big pile to burn!
What we'll deliver
- A community clubhouse fit for purpose/ free hire, toilets are currently in detached welfare containers
- Mens/Ladies/Disabled toilets and shower area all complete to a final finish
Why it's a great idea
This is a great opportunity to have a fantastic community event and in doing so enable the completion of the welfare facilities. We can then remove the existing welfare containers and you can use the community clubhouse free of charge for future events with everything complete. A place to come and visit all year around - we are now open in winter.
This will also help us to plan the event better if we know how many will be coming from donations received
Steps to get it done
- Planning a community village bonfire event
- Hosting and raising funds from the community bonfire event
- Planning the male/female/disabled toilet and shower installation
- Implementing the male/female/disabled toilet and shower areas to full finish
- Opening the new welfare facilities and removing the temporary container oness
- Ensuring all the above is delivered within budget and timeframe
- Review project - any lessons learned
