Lascelles Hall Cricket Club has been in the heart of the village of Lascelles Hall since 1825, the oldest cricket club in Huddersfield and one of the oldest in Yorkshire. In 2025 the club celebrated it's 200 years anniversary with many community events, a remarkable legacy and the club and community are proud of. The club is quite simply the focal point of the community, in fact there is no other public or community building in the village.
Lascelles Hall Cricket Club has brought many happy memories of community life and cricket to the village. Our main purpose is to provide facilities for and to promote participation of the whole community in the sport of cricket but also wider community events too eg bonfire night/polling station/Boot camp fitness/Nutrition sessions/Toddler groups/Defibrillator training/Guide and Scout Groups/Yoga/Childrens parties etc.
The club suffered a bleak period from 2010 when our historical and treasured clubhouse was destroyed by fire in an arson attack. A temporary ‘portacabin style’ clubhouse was erected and has functioned effectively since this date although not sustainable for another 200 years! This was a low period in the club's history but with many discussions and effort from the community we have rebuilt our clubhouse and now on the home strait in finishing the internal requirements.
