The Reach for the Stars Mural Project will transform a run-down end-terraced wall into a beautiful mural celebrating the resilience, diversity and potential of Spring Grove’s children.
The Reach for the Stars Mural Project will transform a run-down end-terraced wall next to Spring Grove Infant and Junior School into a vibrant, large-scale artwork celebrating the children who learn there. The mural will feature the diverse faces of Spring Grove pupils, particularly those who have shown resilience, kindness or courage in the face of challenges such as bullying or adversity. At its heart, the mural will show children reaching towards glowing stars, symbolising hope, ambition and the belief that every child can thrive, regardless of background. The design will be shaped through engagement with pupils and the wider school community, ensuring it reflects real stories and experiences. The mural will improve the local environment, create a strong sense of pride and belonging, and act as a lasting, uplifting landmark for the community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The project will turn a run-down wall into a vibrant public mural that brings colour, beauty and pride to the area around Spring Grove School. It will create a welcoming local landmark for children, families and neighbours, helping the street feel more cared for, uplifting and full of life. A major benefit is what it will mean for the children themselves. By celebrating the faces and stories of Spring Grove pupils, especially those who have shown kindness, courage and resilience, the mural will help children feel seen, valued and proud of their school. The Reaching for the Stars theme will promote confidence, aspiration and the belief that every child has something special to offer. The project will also bring people together. Pupils, families and local partners will help shape the mural, creating opportunities for shared storytelling, creativity and connection. The finished artwork will leave a lasting legacy: a joyful, high-quality piece of public art that reflects the diversity,
