Sprout (Strong Parents Reaching Out); Weekly support sessions for families with children with SEND; offering non-traditional respite through outdoor therapeutic activities for the whole family.
Sprout weekly sessions provide a therapeutic, social group for families with children with SEND and SEMH needs (age 0 - 12). Outdoor activities centred around nature connection and child led play in a non-judgmental, accessible environment; aiming to reduce isolation, build skills, self-worth, confidence and resilience. Sprout stands for Strong Parents Reaching Out and focuses on strengthening family bonds by enjoying time together in a supported environment; offering non-traditional respite without separation anxiety; welcoming non-traditional families and all manner of needs. Supporting families on lengthy waiting lists and all stages of SEND journeys through early intervention and no diagnosis required. The Sprout peer support model allows guidance and learning between families, building strength, resilience and feeling of being understood. We are passionate about maintaining a high-quality for families who rely on it and reaching more SEND families to build the Sprout community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Sprout already bring benefits to the lives for families we work with who tell us “Sprout is a safe space to be ourselves; navigate our SEN journey with other families going through similar experiences”. Sense of community keeps families returning “Sprout is a lifeline for us, giving structure and routine to our weekends. My child makes friends and learns new things through attending regularly”. We will continue to: • Provide high-quality service through a therapeutic social group that enables engagement in fun activities in a non-judgemental, accessible environment. • Reduce isolation and encourage peer support for the families we work with who face lack of understanding regarding their needs and challenges • Encourage nature connection and regular access to a safe outdoor space throughout the year • Build skills, self-worth, confidence and resilience with the aim of improving life outcomes
