By Healthy Hearts (Women's Wellbeing) CIC
We want to bring people together, build friendships, and promote social inclusion through our community cafe, serving homegrown food and hosting workshops in a warm and welcoming environment.
Full Circle Cafe is a huge step for us. We're so excited and can't wait to get our feet firmly under the table. We will provide quality, healthy, freshly cooked food at a reasonable price; celebrate local, seasonal produce; use supplies from our allotment, and work with the charity Fareshare to try to reduce food waste and keep prices low. Since 2017 we have been growing food, cooking, and eating together; baking bread, and sharing recipes & stories from our diverse backgrounds through our women's project Creative Connections. We want to harness the skills of women from this project, establish and develop healthy cooking initiatives, improve lives and contribute to positive wellbeing within the community, through both the cafe, as well as running extra training courses, projects, and developing partnerships with other services. We are crowdfunding in order to fully equip our kitchen by buying kitchen equipment. Please help us achieve our dream.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We recognise the importance of community cafes for individual and societal wellbeing. For vulnerable, marginalised people, or those lacking confidence there is often nowhere they can go that they can call a safe space - free from judgment or discrimination. Our cafe is inclusive to all, a place for people to be themselves, to connect, and feel at home. Whilst Full Circle Cafe promotes healthy eating, we are aware of society's inequalities around food choice. We want everyone to have access to healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate good food - regardless of where they live, their personal circumstances, or income. Cookery classes for all, including those who lack confidence will improve skills, promote community cohesion, cultural exchange, and healthy eating habits. Groups can use our space, benefiting from improved well-being by spending time with like-minded people, gaining support, making friends. Volunteering opportunities are available with the potential for employment.
