EPIKS is a locally-based not-for-profit organisation run by volunteer directors with several part time staff. EPIKS works in partnership with businesses, the third sector and statutory bodies to run projects that offer environmental solutions.
Our current projects include active travel through the creation and maintainance of traffic-free paths; an e-bike trial scheme for individuals and employees.
Our work includes projects on habitat and biodiversity enhancement; access to wildlife and greenspaces and riversde management and stewardship. We will shortly be embarking on an innovative pilot for our aspirational Three Valleys Nature Park Project: the Huddersfield Riverside Nature Park which will engage the local community, businesses, Huddersfield University and the scoping of a revenue - generating micro-hydro electricity generation.
We succesfully ran a crowd-funding campaign through One Community and Match-It! which enabled us to expand our volunteering engagement activities and employ a part time Volunteer Engagement Officer, a project that is set to continue into 2022 and help support the forthcoming Holme Cargo Hub project.
