We're Overfunding!
People make places great. We all have a stake in the towns, villages and communities of Kirklees.
We would like to renovate and refurbish the outside space with exciting play equipment which can be used for all ages 2-10yrs. We would like the equipment to be sustainable and locally sourced.
The Cabin is an established pre-school and wrap-around childcare provider, it is critical to the community because it provides access to affordable, high-quality childcare for all members of the community which helps our children thrive and our parents maintain employment. Last year it was critical that we purchase a new prefabricated building and replace the existing 30-year-old, portacabin. We were very lucky to receive funding last year so we can replace the a building into a sustainable hub for the community. In replacing the building and refurbishing the outside space we want to complete the area with engaging learning activities for all ages who visit the pre school. Our budget fell short when we had unforeseeable extensive groundworks cost which was not covered in the original funding, and it is this money we desperately need to replace so the children have a fabulous outdoor learning environment for generations to come.

Children learn best through play and a simulating environment can make a huge difference in their engagement, concentration and health and wellbeing. If we could raise enough funds to complete what we have already started with the new building, and outdoor groundworks it would be hugely beneficial to the community and children who pass through. The pre school encourages a sense of community within our environment which promotes good physical and emotional health and wellbeing. By having a local pre-school like The Cabin, it enables more families and carers to walk with their children to and from the setting, supporting a healthy lifestyle. By securing the essential funding we will be able to complete our project and bring the pre school outdoor learn areas into a creative and exciting place to learn.

VolunteerThe Cabin is an established pre-school and wrap-around childcare provider, it is critical to the community because it provides access to affordable, high-quality childcare for all members of the community which helps our children thrive and our parents maintain employment.
The preschool follows the early years foundation stage curriculum and provides fun and stimulating activities to support the development of early years children. We monitor children's progress and provide learning journeys for parents to see children’s work and achievements.
We also run an out-of-school club and holiday club. A maximum of 24 children may attend at any one time. The out of school club is open term time only from 7.30-9.00/3.30-6.00 Monday to Friday offering wrap around care to pupils of Shelley first school. This offers an essential service to working parents that require longer hours of childcare. We are situated in the grounds of the school which allows for pick up/collections at normal school times, but we also cater to varied times for children that attend extra activities, such as Choir or Karate.
We offer a light tea, and a range of activities for children aged 4-10 years old. The activities on offer are fun and engaging but we also offer quiet spaces for those that need to relax after a day at school and complete homework tasks.
