The idea
Colne Valley Help is a local charity helping to end food poverty and food waste. We do this by helping people to access affordable food and other essential items at two weekly food shares in Slaithwaite and Golcar. We have recently moved from our old home at Slaithwaite Fire Station to improved premises at Slaithwaite Civic Hall. This move has come with additional costs and has highlighted the need for new equipment.
What we'll deliver
- A new standing fridge
- 1 year of utility Costs
- Rental costs for two years
Why it's a great idea
The new space is better suited to an organisation of our size as it allows us to create a more welcoming space, provides us with improved amenities and gives us the ability to plan for a future in our new permanent home whilst also supporting other community assets (the Slaithwaite Civic Hall and Golcar Drop By Center) through our rent.
Raising the rental and utility costs of our operation for two years will give us the best fresh start by securing a new home for Colne Valley Help and allowing us to confidently continue focusing on delivering support for those in hardship in our communities.
The move has also highlighted the inefficiency of some of our old refrigeration equipment and the need to promote our new location to the wider community so that everyone who is in need can find us and receive help.
Steps to get it done
- Produce new promotional material
- Purchase and install new equipment
- Continue delivering community food shares for two years
