The London Borough of Havering has launched ‘Havering Together’, a new community crowdfunding programme in partnership with Spacehive. It will give residents, voluntary groups and community organisations the opportunity to bring local ideas to life.
The scheme will support community-led projects that improve neighbourhoods, strengthen communities and deliver positive local impact. Using Spacehive’s established crowdfunding platform, local groups will be able to raise funds from residents, businesses and other supporters, with the Council providing backing and match funding to help projects succeed.
Along with donations from your community and local organisations, the council has funding to contribute to your crowdfunding campaign. This has been possible through the use of Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) which enables councils to use funds raised from infrastructure and house building to invest back into communities. There is up to £5,000 available per crowdfunding project.
Key dates - current funding round
There are two funding rounds a year, roughly in the Spring and in the Autumn. Projects need to apply by the funding round deadlines so that the council can review the projects and decide which ones they want to support.
Next funding round deadline: 30 September 2026
Council assessment and pledge: Late October 2026
Projects hit their target and receive funds reready to deliver their project: Early December 2026
Join us for our next online project creator workshop to find out more and learn how you can start a crowdfunding campaign on Spacehive.

Paint Wellbeing provides a structured, creative, therapeutic programme that brings together a small group of women living with various issues including depression, isolation, anxiety, loss and health concerns. Offering an empathic, non-judgemental, safe space with the intention to improve wellbeing. What makes Paint Wellbeing unique is that it is neither an art class or art therapy in the conventional sense. We use painting as a tool to encourage connection, self-awareness, emotional expression and the promotion of mindfulness. Those who attend don't need any particular interest in painting and there are no expectations. The purpose is to gain positive change from the freedom of non-judgemental creativity, from building supportive and trusting relationships and developing a new sense of self-awareness and confidence. The intention is to incorporate these positive changes into everyday life. We recognise the power of community and all that we gain from coming together.
We provide vital mental health support for 11-16 year olds in Havering through innovative activities such as dance, arts, and football in line with the National Curriculum. Addressing the growing demand amidst lengthy NHS and Local Authority waiting lists, our initiative fills critical gaps in early intervention. The project will provide safe drop-in spaces and practical tools to help young people build resilience, manage anxiety and improve overall wellbeing. Having received exceptional feedback from schools over the past three years, we’ve been invited to co-develop a Wellbeing Centre tailored for pupils' needs. To achieve this milestone, we aim to employ a dedicated Relationship Support Worker, who will strengthen therapeutic activities and foster an environment of trust and positive engagement.
The Sensory Garden for the Blind is a unique haven in Havering, providing a safe, inclusive green space for individuals with visual and hearing impairments, physical disabilities, and dementia. Maintained by dedicated volunteers, the garden seeks to enhance accessibility and foster social connections. This project aims to install a safe, paved walkway leading to accessible picnic benches, ensuring individuals can navigate the garden without fear of slipping or falling on uneven grass. Additionally, the project plans to design a welcoming entrance, making the garden more inviting and inclusive. By creating secure pathways and gathering spaces, the initiative will enable visitors to enjoy nature, connect with others, and build friendships in a supportive environment. This enhanced design ensures the garden remains a cherished community asset, welcoming everyone regardless of their abilities.
Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
