During the pandemic, life had slowed down for many in the UK, and this meant people have taken greater notice of their health, and health anxiety has risen significantly. I am an alternative treatment therapist, who had been working in Havering for over 10 years. I had taken notice of many patients who wish to do acupuncture, but either can’t afford to give it a go or complete the full recommended course of treatment. I wish to make alternative treatment more accessible, by providing free consultation to teach simple yet effective bespoke acupressure techniques for each patient, that they can perform on their own. By doing so, I wish to make people see alternative treatment as a option for their health problems, and to offer relief from discomfort. Each consultation will be around 30 minutes. I will start running them as soon as the project starts gaining momentum. Funds will be used to rent a suitable venue for in-person consultations.

What we'll deliver:

• Free health consultations
• Guidance on self-acupressure, and Qi energy regulation technique
• Advice on healthy eating and other activities including sports

Why it's a great idea:

Help to improve the well-being of our local residents. Acupressure helps by stimulating your body to improve its self-healing abilities. Offering guidance on self-acupressure will help people regulate their health. Aside from guidance, I will give advice on what eating habits they should adopt and what activities they should take up etc. This tackles the root of many people's health concerns. Health anxiety is particular prominent during the coronavirus crisis. My project would support many people through this difficult time.
