The idea
Paint Wellbeing provides a structured, creative, therapeutic programme that brings together a small group of women living with various issues including depression, isolation, anxiety, loss and health concerns. Offering an empathic, non-judgemental, safe space with the intention to improve wellbeing.
What makes Paint Wellbeing unique is that it is neither an art class or art therapy in the conventional sense. We use painting as a tool to encourage connection, self-awareness, emotional expression and the promotion of mindfulness.
Those who attend don't need any particular interest in painting and there are no expectations. The purpose is to gain positive change from the freedom of non-judgemental creativity, from building supportive and trusting relationships and developing a new sense of self-awareness and confidence. The intention is to incorporate these positive changes into everyday life.
We recognise the power of community and all that we gain from coming together.

Why it's a great idea
Our Paint Wellbeing project will deliver meaningful, accessible support that improves emotional wellbeing, reduces social isolation and strengthens community connections across Havering. Through structured, inclusive painting sessions, the project offers a calm, creative space where individuals can step back from daily pressures, reconnect with themselves and build positive relationships with others.
At its core, the project provides a preventative, non-clinical approach to wellbeing. Many people experience stress, anxiety, lonliness or low mood but may not feel comfortable accessing formal mental health services. Paint Wellbeing creates a gentle and welcoming entry point for support, removing barriers such as stigma, cost, and fear of judgement. Participants do not need prior art experience, making sessions accessible to a wide range of people, including those less likely to engage in wellbeing activities.
