This new crowdfunding programme from Shropshire Council in partnership with Spacehive, is an opportunity for you to bring forward an impactful project in your neighbourhood and receive financial support from the Council and the local community - via crowdfunding - to help make it happen.
The council has two funds which it can use to support projects:
- £150,000 Shared Prosperity Community Fund (non-capital funding with a maximum pledge of £10k)
- £150,000 Shropshire Green Spaces and Active Travel Fund (capital funding with a maximum pledge of £20k)
Spacehive’s mission is to make it easy for local people to improve their local area. Spacehive has helped crowdfund over 2,000 bright ideas from local communities - and yours could be next.

We are a totally volunteer charity that trains and equips a search and rescue team to support the emergency services in finding and recovering vulnerable missing people. A large portion of our training uses the skills of members. We also have to look outside for a range of nationally recognised qualifications to satisfy our membership of Lowland Rescue and to remain qualified for major flooding incidents. We have to use recommended external suppliers for these courses and we have to carry the cost. Team members will develop new skills, it will be an investment in their personal growth. This funding will also train new members to serve our community. An enhanced team will mean we can respond more efficiently to our call-outs and be available to more vulnerable people who may need our services. Our aim for 2024 is to grow our team from 70 to 100 operational members to enable greater availability of qualified volunteers for search and rescue in our area.
