Brilliant news, thanks everyone!

In partnership with P3 Paths Partnership Group, Wem Rural Parish Council would like to make the countryside more accessible so that local residents can enjoy walking in the parish.
Wem Rural Parish has beautiful countryside and in order to make it more accessible for local residents it needs the help of volunteers to clear pathways, repair gates, put up markers and make people more aware of accessible pathways. This work has been started by the P3 Paths Partnership Group however it needs more help to publish accessible walks and printed guides, organise meet ups and encourage people to get outside, enjoy the fresh air so that people can benefit from exercise and have the opportunity to meet other walkers. There is also a need to create a walk that is wheelchair and pushchair friendly so that everyone can enjoy the countryside and time outside. The funding from this project will go to create these printed guides and make them available at local pick up points so that everyone can follow a step-by-step guide and avoid getting lost or walking on dangerous roads. This will be backed up with a website so that people can download the guides or follow walks online.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
By making the countryside more accessible to local residents people will be able to enjoy the outdoors and see that Wem Rural Parish has to offer. There will be added health benefits of people taking part in regular exercise and with a mixture of short and long walks, some wheelchair friendly, the countryside will be accessible for people of all ages and abilities. The meet ups will also mean that people can meet other people whilst out working and will help reduce social and rural isolation that so many people are facing today because they are either unaware of where they can safely walk in the parish or because the pathways aren't currently accessible due to overgrown hedges, gates that need repair.
