An active play area for visitors children to the Cambrian Heritage Railways new station at Weston Wharf.
An installation of various active play equipment on a newly created green space at the new station. This is to provide further attraction for families travelling on the Heritage trains in addition to the Brewery, Restaurant, Buffet car, picnic area, interpretation room and toilet facilities that have recently already been created. There is demand from visitors for enhanced provision for families at this destination.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Encourage families to dwell longer during their visit and feel the extra time spent was justified. Allow children to let off steam having just been confined in a public railway environment. To offer visiting school parties options for physical activities. To offer activity options for children's parties at the railway.
Steps to get it done:
We often host young visitors with special needs who would enjoy some physical activity in our unique surroundings.

With Many Thanks to all our backers we have now finally completed the work on the play area at Weston Wharf. It will be opened for play by under 12s only, on Saturday 3rd August. If anyone gave their name when they pledged their donation then a family ticket awaits you at the Oswestry ticket desk for return travel to see the area at Weston Wharf. Please seek me out and I shall gladly show you around. We are running a steam engine every weekend until mid-September and diesel Pacer on Wednesdays. Why not make a day of it and spend time at the Stonehouse BBQ & Bar next door? We also provide refreshments in the Buffet car alongside the Wharf. Once again, Many Thanks for your generosity, we hope it will bring much happiness to our young visitors. Dave Roll manager Weston Wharf Station
We have just heard that with a very large pledge from Primoris Homes we have now reached our funding target to install a fitness trail on this green space at Weston Wharf Station. We will need to move the park bench and install some fencing but we hope to have it all ready for the summer season. Thank you to everyone who is donating to this project. We are sure the children will enjoy it!
Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
Whoop, 30 people have pledged since fundraising began!
Thanks to very generous pledges from Shropshire Council Green Spaces fund, Henstone and 27 other backers so far, we have now reached 90% of our target ! Thank you for your generosity. Cambrian Heritage Railways will be open all over the Easter weekend for anyone to come and see the area where we plan to install the trail. Seek me out at Weston Wharf and I will show you around and discuss our plans. Make the trip worthwhile by visiting the adjacent Stonehouse Brewery Bar & Restaurant while you are there! Regards and Many Thanks again, Dave Roll Station Manager, Weston Wharf
