Birmingham’s Be Bold Crowdfunding is an initiative launched by Birmingham City Council (BCC), in partnership with crowdfunding platform Spacehive. We are seeking to help fund the delivery of ward and neighbourhood projects that positively impact upon things that matter to local people and local communities. The deadline to pitch your project is 31st May! Click 'Create a project' below to get started... As part of this crowdfunding programme, as well as attracting pledges from local people and organisations with an interest in your project, BCC also have a funding pot of £1.18 million available across 11wards to support campaigns through the local element of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Funding. Successful campaigns can receive a BCC pledge of up to 50% of your project costs (up to 75% in exceptional circumstances) from the council, up to a maximum amount which differs from ward to ward.

Watersports Volunteering Programme
Watersports Volunteering Programme joined Be Bold Crowdfunding5 days ago

We will create a volunteering programme to encourage local residents, particularly from Ladywood, to support a weekly programme of free Watersports activities for adults and children with disabilities. No previous Watersports experience is required as volunteers will be working alongside trained instructors and most activities will be land based. During the week, we run free sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding activities for groups of adults with physical and learning disabilities and the visually impaired, we also have drop-in sessions for individuals who are not part of an organised group. We run a similar programme for children on Sunday mornings. Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers during their first few months is a skilled job and needs dedicated time. This project plans to recruit a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to kick-start the project. We will provide all the necessary training free of charge to the volunteers.

The band provides a safe place for musicians from diverse communities and age groups to attend, share and play in a big band. Situated in a neighbourhood recognised by the local authority and Government as a severely deprived ares of the City - the band has extended their support to people in distress, low esteem and confidence, poor mental health and unemployed to experience the release through playing in a bid band. We offer a family atmosphere, sharing of spaces where participants can find solace through friendships, love of music, learning and playing in a bid band. We also offer young musicians from deprived areas and low income families with small contributions and assistance with purchasing basic instruments, tuition and mentoring. We practice every Friday at Ladywood Leisure Centre and have access to graduate musicians from the Birmingham Conservatoire that support, conduct the band and assist with writing new scores for the band.
