The idea
Pebble Mill Forest Garden is growing! It is growing in numbers of volunteers, it is growing in size and the plants are getting bigger. We need more plants though - to fill the space and to work towards completing our design objectives.
Local people meet here every week to grow edible perennial plants. This space can be used to demonstrate forest garden techniques, allow people a source of new plants and to give the local community and volunteers some crops to feed their families upon.
What we'll deliver
- Plant more fruit and nut trees
- Plant more fruit bushes
- Plant more herbs, ground cover plants and other perennial foods
Why it's a great idea
The project will bring people together to work, harvest, learn, play, meet and share plants. The site is used already as a meeting point and local venue for parties, events and other gatherings.
Pebble Mill Playing Fields Forest Garden is an open site where anyone can stop and enjoy the plants or become more heavily involved in the work here.
The Forest Garden is much loved already, but it has plenty of work needed to complete it. Regularly meeting to carry this work out brings us all together more often and with purpose. We enjoy each other's company and engage with each other lives frequently.
The Forest Garden will bring great pleasure to local people, passers-by and visitors to the area; it already does, but it has a long way to develop before reaching its full potential.
Steps to get it done
- By the end of spring 2023 all of our plants will have been planted
