How can I take part? 

Along with pledges from your community, projects in Malvern Hills also have the opportunity to get a pledge from Malvern Hills District Council towards their crowdfunding target. Read below to understand how it works and how to get involved.

1. EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST 

Complete our short Project Idea Form as soon as possible to inform us of your project idea and knowledge of crowdfunding. The Spacehive team will be in touch to provide you with the necessary information about future events and any support you may need to help get your project started.

2. CREATE YOUR PROJECT PAGE AND PITCH TO THE FUND

Create your project page on Spacehive which will match you to local funds. The funders will ask you some additional questions about your project. Depending on the nature of your project, you may also be matched with other funds available in your area - create your project to find out more!

3. SUBMIT YOUR IDEA FOR VERIFICATION

Your project costs and necessary permissions will be verified. This involves checking quotes for all the major items and if you have land owner permission for your project. Gather this in advance for speedy verification. Aim to be verified before the fund deadline wherever possible.

4. ASSESSMENT AND PLEDGING 

MHDC  will review all projects typically 6-8 weeks after the deadline. MHDC want to see community support and backing, in the form of smaller pledges from local people, before they consider pledging to your campaign. Successful projects can expect to receive a pledge of up to £50,000 (max 50% of target) during their live campaign. 

Projects will be contacted with the exact assessment date once campaigns begin. If projects are successful with their pitch and can demonstrate significant local support they could expect to receive a pledge shortly after MHDC's assessment during their live crowdfunding campaigns. 5. LAUNCH YOUR CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN

Following the pitch outcome from the Malvern Hills Dictrict council, launch and run your crowdfunding campaign.

6. HIT YOUR TARGET AND DELIVER YOUR PROJECT

You need to hit your target in order to receive the funds you raise. Please allow up to three weeks to receive funds once your campaign ends. Once you deliver your project, you can update your backers by completing a colourful impact report on Spacehive.

Crowdfund Malvern is a fund to support Community Activity that makes our district special. This fund is set up to support community groups that:

• Improve the mental and physical health and wellbeing of your local community.

• Projects that directly address climate change

• Enhance lives through events and activities

• Support young people’s ideas and ambitions

• Help to tackle the barriers and challenges many of us experience in life, such as poverty, ill health, distance from services, social isolation/loneliness.

• Cultivate Food equity- projects that support building a fair food system for everyone.

• Protect and enhance our natural and built environment

• Invest in and maintain the facilities we rely on for these activities to take place.

While this is a Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) programme, and funding decisions will be made solely by the council, your local Council will also be providing support at a local level for groups who have questions about permissions and licences, local networks they can tap into etc.
