The idea
Malvern Parish Primary School (formerly Mill Lane School) has a history that dates back to the mid-19th century! The school is an integral part of the community and has provided education to generations of local children.
Our newly appointed PTA team are really keen to explore the history of the school building and use it as a way of (re)connecting with the school community- past, present and future.
We will use the funds raised by this campaign to prepare and host a School Heritage Open Day!
To PREPARE we will:
-draw on the expertise of local historians and resources to research the history of the school
-arrange trips and activities (such as poetry/drawing competitions, time capsules and a dress up day)
-produce materials to display our findings
-our Enterprise After School Club will develop school memorabilia to sell at the event.
To SHARE our findings we will host a celebration event, inviting people to enjoy tours, guest speakers, entertainment and refreshments!
What we'll deliver
- Host a School Heritage Open Day for the Community
Why it's a great idea
-The event is a perfect way for the PTA to build new connections, inside and out of the school.
-It will help to strengthen school identity and pride and develop a stronger sense of school community.
-The project will have the added value of helping to build new skills and complement the school curriculum wherever possible.
-The project will engage young people with history and their locality and offer multi-generational opportunities for learning and knowledge share
-It will help to raise vital funds for school
-The majority of items that we purchase for this event will be reusable at future events and therefore have a legacy beyond this project.
-It is an opportunity to refresh the school support system and reconnect with an alumni network that will hopefully continue to support the school into the future
-Any additional funding raised as a result of this event will go towards future school projects such as a STEM Garden and school trip hardship fund.
