The environment

The environment

The taps have an automatic timer so switch off. The lights when in use are on a sensor so only come on for movement. Plumbing has been improved. Site is cleaner and more hygienic for everyone with the bins provided helping to reduce litter.

The local economy

The local economy

To complete the work at the Toilet block all local tradesman were employed from builder,plumber,window fitters and painters and decorators. Volunteers helped to make the planters from donated wood and with donated plants . Station House Cafe has got busier year on year since Covid and the Cafe is always recruiting volunteers with more needed. Station House CAfe provides a hub for people to sell local honey jars, ground coffee sachets,locally produced cream and custard,daffodils ( seasonal) . Artwork to purchase from a local artist and offer book swap and jigsaw swap facility, homegrown plants for customers to purchase to donate to charity.( seasonal) Homegrown vegetable and fruit again for people to donate to charity.( seasonal) The Cabin on site in the Cafe yard offers workshops from time to time for eg, glass workshops and police surgeries.

The Cafe continues to support 2 Duke of Edinburgh students ( March 26), Passion for Learning events. Helping to support Men in Sheds who made garden furniture for the cafe garden. There is a constant volunteer recruitment drive to help in the Cafe. The Cafe provides training such as Food Hygiene Certificates,Allergen training,Fire Safety,Safegarding,Volunteer Management training to cover staff, teens and volunteers if they choose . The cafe currently has approx 10 0 hr staff, 1 xpart time 26 hrs 1 x 8 hrs plus approx 25 volunteers covering cafe duties and DIY . Training has hit target of 50 hours.
