More about our impact
The environment
We used recycled materials where possible and tried to reduce waste.
Arts, culture & heritage
Our workshops offered the variety of arts and craft skills as anticipated. This opened up the conversation around culture and heritage. One week participants talked about their journeys to the UK and many different stories were shared about cultural expectations surrounding social activities. Similarities of behaviour and experience were acknowledged, regardless of cultural background. The diversity of the Threads workshop leaders helped foster a sense of acceptance, recognition of commonality and community cohesion.
Activity, health and leisure
The workshops managed to find the balance of being action packed whilst providing calm and relaxation to participants. One participant commented specifically that she had struggled with her mental health, had been encouraged to come by a friend and the workshops had helped her find hope when she felt hopeless. One week explicitly provided mindful crafting and all weeks gave participants the opportunity to relax whilst learning a new skill and discovering their own creativity.
