Help us to save this 150 year old, iconic Victorian Grade II* building in the heart of England! This roof will not last another winter! The building is instrumental to a range of community activities.
The Friends of Goddard are a group of volunteers supported by the Civic - and Victorian Society and advised by heritage professionals such as, the heritage accredited Lead Architect Team of John Dodson & Simon Bird, Conservation Department at Leicester City Council and Historic England. The group has worked tireless over the last 6 years to renovate and restore the banking hall in this listed Grade 2* building into a community center, accessible to people from all cultural, religious and sexual backgrounds. But the original roof over the building is now failing, after serving the property for almost 150 years. It needs to be replaced urgently! We would like to take the opportunity to simultaniously replace the glass in the roof's atrium with green energy generating glass. This system is called photovoltaic glass and is supplied by the UK based company PolySolar.
