Tenterden Folk Day Trust is a registered charity formed in May 1994 to preserve and advance public education and appreciation of traditional and contemporary folk music, song, dance and other related traditions, crafts and folk arts as a part of the living heritage. The Trust is supported by Tenterden Town Council, Ashford Borough Council and Kent County Council and an increasing number of local and regional businesses and other community organisations.
The Trust and all its activities are run by the Trustees and a committee who are all unpaid volunteers. The festival depends on the support of a team of local and visting volunteers who act as stewards and workforce.
The 30th Tenterden Folk Festival will take place from the 5th to 8th October 2023.
As well as the annual four day festival the Trust also runs educational workshops in local schools, promotes a free monthy folk song and music session in Tenterden, promotes other occassional one off events, publishes the popular Around Kent Folk magazine in print and online, and acts as a local folk development organisation.
