More about our impact
The environment
One of the guests at the festival were the Tree Fellas, sponsored by Appluase Rural Touring and Arts Council England. Tree Fella promote palning tree and saving the enviroment. Several of the stalls in the marquees were enviromental charities such as Woodland Trust. Crafters also promote enviromental issues and recycling.
The local economy
Every hotel and B&B in Tenterden was fully booked. The campsite was very busy. Cafes, public houses, bars and food outlets did tremendous trade. Despite everything thrown at us the town was very busy.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We had around 40 volunteers over the weekend. Of those and increased number were local and for some were newcomers to Tenterden and it was there first experience of Tenterden Folk Festival. Others were experienced stewards who volunteers at other festival over the year. However this year is was the first festival many people had been able to attend due to Covid.
Arts, culture & heritage
We created four days of folk song, music, dance, crafts and traditions in difficult circumstances.
Activity, health and leisure
Singing and dancing are known to be good for both physical and mental health and after all the lockdowns people were excited to be back out singing and dancing.
