Who We Are
Welcome to Tarvin Community Centre (TCC)! Situated in the heart of rural Cheshire, just six miles east of the City of Chester, we have been the beating heart of our vibrant village since 1970.
We are an entirely volunteer-run organization driven by a simple but powerful ethos: to welcome all members of our community and strive to create a safe, inclusive, and warm environment that everyone can be part of, contribute to, and enjoy. For over five decades, we have dedicated ourselves to ensuring that rural life doesn't mean missing out on high-quality culture, connection, and recreation.
What We Do
If it is happening in Tarvin, chances are it is happening at the Community Centre. We pride ourselves on offering something for absolutely everyone, hosting a diverse, year-round programme of events, activities, and vital local services. On any given week, our spaces are alive with:
- Arts & Culture: We are a premier local venue for live entertainment, proudly hosting visiting performers, regional touring schemes like Cheshire Rural Touring Arts, and local legends like the award-winning Ashton Hayes Theatre Club.
- Our Community Cinema: Our incredibly popular monthly “Friday Film Nights” are a staple of village life, showcasing recent blockbuster releases and bringing neighbours together for a valued, affordable night out without the need for a long drive or public transport.
- Health, Wellbeing & Learning: From regular fitness and activity clubs for all ages and abilities to a well-loved local library and various educational classes, we keep Tarvin moving and learning.
Our Track Record
We don’t stand still. We believe our community deserves the best, and we have a proven track record of continually investing in and modernising our space. In recent years, we have successfully delivered major upgrades to the centre, including fully modernised standard and accessible toilets, as well as installing a brand-new, larger projection screen to elevate our cinema nights.
Every penny raised for TCC is managed meticulously by our dedicated team, ensuring maximum community impact and long-term sustainability.
Why We Are Running This Campaign
Sadly, nothing lasts forever. While our community’s spirit is stronger than ever, much of our technical infrastructure — much like a few of our volunteers! — is well past its prime and desperately needs replacing.
To keep TCC moving forward, we have launched our crowdfunding campaign: “Inclusive & Immersive: Tarvin’s Tech Upgrade.”
We want to transform our main spaces into a first-class, modern venue. This isn't just about buying shiny new gadgets; it is about breaking down barriers to access. By investing in pioneering assistive hearing technology like Auracast, cutting-edge 4K laser projection, immersive surround sound, and eco-friendly LED stage lighting, we are safeguarding the future of the centre. We are also ensuring that our incredible technical volunteers can work safely with modern metal access ladders instead of our current, rather rickety wooden ones.
