As well as residents, the playground committee includes representatives from community groups within the village.
The committee comprises nine residents who are passionately committed to the initiative and who possess valuable skills to take the project forward:
• Member of the Parish Council
• Member of the Parochial Church Council
• Ex police constable specialising in social behaviour.
• Assistant head teacher at a local SEN School. A specialist in childhood development, behaviour and special educational needs and disability including sensory integration.
• Civil engineering project manager who will focus on the design and construction of the space.
• Retired teacher and university lecturer in design. Local projects include designing, drawing plans and submitting planning applications.
• Senior business consultant with a strong engineering and technology background.
• Farrier, farmer & agricultural specialist
• Product support co-ordinator, who wants to help the play-space become a reality as she and her children will be regular users and believes it will have a positive impact on her family life.
There are steering groups within the committee that focus on design, fund-raising and grant applications. The initiative also has the backing of the county councillor, district councillor and the local MP.
From its conception, the committee have publicised the initiative at well-attended village events and face-to-face open days, on social media using the village WhatsApp platform and on the village website with regularly updates and news of events and reminders.
