The idea
A new drinking water fountain in Southall Park, (there is none there currently). This will provide everyone with access to free and healthy tap water. It is designed to be extremely durable; has a drinking tap and a bottle-filling tap; and it also has a ground-level tap/bowl perfect for dogs. It will be conveniently located near the outdoor gym equipment and playground. It will additionally help reduce the amount of single bottle plastic use and also help reduce litter.
What we'll deliver
- Install new drinking water fountain with bottle filling tap
Why it's a great idea
The average London adult buys more than three plastic water bottles every week - a startling 175 bottles every year per person. In total, some 7.7 billion plastic bottles are bought across the UK each year, resulting in substantial amounts of single-use plastic waste. Drinking water fountains help reduce the number of single use plastic water bottles used, helping our environment and cash in our pockets.
Steps to get it done
- 1. Raising the funds
- 2. Purchasing the drinking water fountain
- 3. Installing the drinking water fountain and connection to the water supply
- 4. Public opening and celebration in the park
