The idea
The Covid-19 crisis hit at exactly the wrong time of year for Aldershot Cricket Club. We would normally be gearing up for the new season, our members would be paying their annual subscriptions, the bar would be open most days, our venue would be hired out during the nicer weather etc. We still have many running costs and fear that if things go on for much longer we may be in financial trouble. Volunteers are looking after our grounds free of charge in the hope that we may get some cricket later in the year. We are a fantastic club and any money donated will be put into the club and ensure it can get many young people playing cricket once this is all over.
What we'll deliver
- People can play cricket at Aldershot for years to come.
- Young people will continue to learn the great sport of cricket.
- The local community will retain an important venue.
Why it's a great idea
People can play cricket at Aldershot for years to come enjoying the benefits that exercise and team sport bring to physical health and mental well-being. Hundreds of children from the local area will continue to learn the game and have somewhere to socialise with their friends in a safe environment.
Steps to get it done
- Re-open the club!
