The project has improved the site as a valuable community resource steeped in local and ancient history. It has inspired local poets and bards. It’s location lends itself to the facilitation of poetry, photography and literary workshops. Traditions such as well-dressing can be promoted. Wirral Poets held a Poetry Picnic at the site in Summer 2022.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Groups of volunteers (3-30 individuals ) have attended regular volunteer sessions to carry out restoration and maintenance task. Volunteers have benefited from regular exercises and working outdoors in a natural environment, contributing positively to their community and engendering a sense of community spirit and pride. They have benefit from social interaction and connecting with others and it will help overcome social isolation. Some volunteers have said that the sessions have helped with their mental health after covid and bereavement experiences. Visitors to the site have benefit from being in a tranquil, calm setting enjoying nature. Children have explored, played and discovered. It has become a regular stop off point for walkers and cyclists.
