Restoration of Louisa Bay flower beds
We are restoring long-neglected flower beds on the approach road to Louisa Bay in Broadstairs. Our volunteers have been preparing the site by digging, weeding, and would love your support & donations.
About the Project Creator
We have come together to do positive things, where we can see ways we can help to make our town even better than we already know it is. We love Broadstairs. We know that most of the people who live here do too and that visitors often fall in love with it from the moment they arrive. It's a great place.
We have assorted Gardens groups, bring together local people for litterpicks, set up The Broadstairs Town Shed and and support other local organisations with help on funding advice, restoration and community-focused projects.
There are now 8 Garden sites in and around Broadstsirs that our volunteer gardeners maintain, and Louisa Bay is the latest project we are working on.
Long forgotten, the beds on the footpath and road down to Louisa Bay needed some TLC. With permission fro mTDC, a small group of willing volunteers and plant enthusiats have devised a new planting plan not just to restore the beds to their former glory, but also to add key elements to encourage biodiversity and to become a new haven for wildlife.
Our work in the area started off in a small way with seed (!) funding and the donation of crocus bulbs by the local Rotary Club for one of the small beds. That kicked off a desire to do more, to reclaim these long lost flower beds and make them a lovely asset to the very high footfall path down to the blue Flag beach at Louisa Bay.
Engaging in volunteer activities is a wonderful way to meet new people, encourage co-working, enjoy the outdoors, engenders an increase in a sense of well-being and makes a positive contribution to our town and community.
We have no regular of central funding for any of our projects and rely entirely on donations of time, skills, and money for materals to make our positive projects scome to life.
If you would like to help us in a small way by the donation of time (if you can), and/or funding for materials, that would be splendid, we'd be very grateful indeed and so would everyone who lves in or vists Broadstairs,
Making things look nicer, and feel more loved and appreciated is at the heart of what we try and do for our lovely town.
