Lancaster Environment Action & Protection (LEAP) works as an Environment Partner for Community Organisations to enable collective grassroots action to address Climate Change issues integrating approaches from different cultural traditions with contemporary cultures and sciences. At our core we believe strongly in catalysing wide impact projects to change mindsets to encourage a culture of sustainable living. We are at present completing a nationwide project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund working with a national community umbrella organisation to roll out an Environmental Management for Faith Spaces (EAM) Toolkit, which goes beyond the community space into the daily activities and interactions with communities in different cultural contexts. For instance the toolkit is designed to prevent food waste at large cultural festivities. We also have a youth wing who have created a series of Eco-Festival booklets for encouraging young people and families to create their own food, decorations, gifts in simple, stylish and economical ways. The booklets celebrate cultural activities around Christmas, Eid, Diwali, Passover and have been shared by Lancashire County Council across schools and has also been commended at a Parliamentary event. LEAP also works with our youth ambassadors on activities such as national Energy at Home awareness quizzes undertaken with an international community organisation. LEAP works with a number of local, regional, national and international community and other organisations to deliver its key activities.

LEAP is proud to be one of four finalists for the BBC Radio Lancashire Make a Difference Green Award! We are at present running a pilot for our Recycled Future Fashions Cultural programme with two pilot workshops in varying style planned for 10th and 20th August at Lancaster Library. The BBC will be filming a part of these activities ahead of the Award ceremony in September. The pilot show is planned as a part of the Festival of Culture event on 20th October at Lancaster University.
