Help us keep the Reap Community Centre alive so we can continue delivering fun activities and essential support for all the community
When the Oakridge Youth Club in Downham, Lewisham, sadly closed due to budget cuts, a group of local people fought hard to win a 5-year lease that led to the opening of the REAP Community Centre in its place. Two years on, the valuable community contributions the centre has made, has allowed many project to start running again, we are mindful that without the necessary funds many of the projects will have to stop, causing worries that the centre will have to stop important aspects of its work.
REAP centre is a place Downham residents call a second home, where everyone feels welcome, made to feel special and supported, as well as kept busy and learning new things with an assortment of activities. That's why we, the REAP team, a passionate and dedicated group of volunteers and management, are asking you to help us grow stronger and offer a sustainable future for the centre and our many devoted members.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The community are incredibly passionate to keep the REAP Community Centre running, as they've shown in campaigns of previous years. No matter what is going on in peoples personal lives, we want to offer a stable place where locals can come to learn and laugh.
Community Centres are experiencing more and more cuts so we're taking it upon ourselves to source funds from the community. Your pledge, whether £2 or £2000 will enable us to continue bringing security and happiness to the lives of the Lewisham community.
Steps to get it done:
We need your help to make REAP a centre of community excellence, fit for the future able to continue running community partnership projects . In summer 2015, we won a grant to run our youth summer scheme for young people aged 11-16 years of age, and we want to continue delivering schemes, clubs and support groups like this on a more permanent and stable basis. But we need your pledges.
We are a hopeful, optimistic, and passionate team - we know we can reach our funding goal with your help. If you'd like to come down to the centre to see what we do please get in touch or send us an email.
Having already won the centre back before, we are determined to have another success story; moving from strength to strength we want to demonstrate that unity can lead to powerful community impact. We invite you to join us and help us keep the REAP centre alive by pledging and spreading the word!
