More about our impact
The local economy
We have already run a level 1 instructor course this season, we are running a Youth Award Course soon and we are in discussions with Snow Sports England to ensure we are considered for any future courses run in the North West. We have a number of Race events booked in over the next twelve months and are in the process of bidding for others. This will see between 80 and 150 skiers depending on the event compete at Pendle. However it brings many more people who spend and support the local economy as family members travel with them.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We have trained a number additional volunteers in how to safely remove and fit mats. We have run a Level 1 Ski instructors course which will provide additional volunteers to the club. But will also provide those who attended with a nationally recognized qualification and the opportunity to develop a lot of transferable skills. We are running a Youth Award Course later in the year which is an opportunity for young people aged 14 to 16. This will provide young people with the opportunity to instruct under supervision and gain amazing skills and experience to help them in the future when they enter the workplace. We already have ten schools booked in for this season and looking forward to taking more bookings.
Arts, culture & heritage
Pendle Ski Club is a wonderful welcoming environment in the beautiful Lancashire countryside. The ideal space for anyone to enjoy.
Activity, health and leisure
The mats will be used by hundreds of local residents over a number of years. The new mats make Skiing easier and more enjoyable. Over the next six months over 500 members, school children, local residents and competitive skiers will ski over the new mats. Skiing is a wonderful sport and perfect to improve health and wellbeing. Being outside in the fresh air surrounded by the rolling hills is the perfect way to improve fitness and your mental wellbeing.
