The idea
in February next year I have have hired our local Community Centre, The Linskill Centre in North Shields for the Day. This day coordinates with the five year anniversary of opening our Zero Waste, Plastic free shop. Our shop promotes plastic free shopping, saving one use plastic items going to land fill. In our time opening, we have saved thousands pieces of plastic going to landfill. Our shop also addresses the issues of food waste, where people can buy what they need instead of being forced to buy what they buy at the supermarkets. Our day event is highlighting lots of different issues about the environment under one roof, making it an enjoyable free day out, from continuous environmental craft, talks, workshops, environmentally conscious businesses selling their products to information stalls about the environment. What we'll deliver

- Promoting and supporting other local businesses which we already do through our shop

Why it's a great idea
Since we opened we have not just created a wonderful shop but a huge community of people who are doing their bit to try and save the planet. Trying to get people to engage with this subject matter in recent and present times, has been a very difficult job, as people have different agenda's to worry about other than the environment. This is such an important issue and if I can provide a platform for people to come and enjoy this subject matter through many different avenues, I think it might be a success. Hopefully, by seeing what is going on in the area and the people that already engage in environmental issues may provoke some food for thought.
Steps to get it done

- To promote small Businesses in the area and give them a platform to sell
- To create an event that will be repeated yearly and bring a lot to the area.
From the beginning, our shop has always been about sharing information and promoting other businesses and artists in the area. we have a huge community of like minded people and have created such a lovely environment for people to enjoy, I want to share this with the masses and let people know about all of the interesting people we have on our doorstep, just trying to do their bit for the environment.
