Yes, that's right, our project is now officially done! We've hit all of our milestones that we set out to achieve in this crowdfunding campaign and now you get to read all about it in our project report. Simply go to our Spacehive project page and click the icon next to our project report milestone and you'll get to see the impact you've made as a backer of this project. Well, our next project is updating our kit hire system. Currently we're using Google Forms in order to rent out equipment to our community (which is a pretty manual task at the moment). We're going to be updating to a more streamlined site in the coming month with the aim to have members and the community able to start using the new kit on their own projects at the start of the new year. We're also adding a new Leadership Role to continue the work we've done with this project here. The Education Officer will look to continue workshops and training around the kit we have and look to upskill the community throughout the year. Last Sunday we spent about 5 hours shooting our 3 minute film about Newcastle Film Club which we are excited to show you the final product. Here's a picture of everyone that came out to join us for the big final shot of the film. The next update you hear from us will be with a link to view the video! :D
We have a script outline! Based on all of the great ideas suggested by members earlier in the year, a couple of members of the club have developed the following mockumentary sketch. "A skeptical news reporter is sent to investigate the Newcastle Film Club, expecting to uncover an elitist, closed-off community of filmmakers. However, as they interview members, from beginners to seasoned creatives, they’re surprised to find a welcoming, inclusive group that’s free, open to all ages, and eager to share knowledge. Each interview debunks the reporter’s preconceived notions, revealing a club focused on collaboration and community rather than exclusivity. By the end, the reporter, once critical, is so drawn in by the friendly atmosphere that they can’t help but join in, proving Newcastle Film Club truly welcomes everyone." The film itself will only be a 3 minute film and we're excited to show members at our next film club meeting the script outline in full and hear their thoughts and give any final suggestions to help make this film a true reflection of our creativity as a community. Good Evening, Afternoon or Morning (depending on where you're at in the world). Yesterday marked the very last workshops for this project and wow - we had such a great turn out! We will give more of an update once we've had time to process all of the feedback and numbers from all of the workshops but it was great to see people of all ages, backgrounds and interest in filmmaking come to the workshops we hosted. So far we've had 2 workshops - A Cameras Workshop and a Sound Workshop. Both workshops have been attended by 8 people at each session (the ticket limit is 12 so as to keep groups small) and we're thrilled with how things have been going so far. But what have people said from the sessions? "Terrific workshop. Tomorrow our series of free workshops kick off with a Cameras Workshop. We are so excited and can't wait to share pictures and videos from tomorrow's workshop. We are excited to announce that our workshops to teach people how to use the new kit that we've purchased as part of this project are now all confirmed. Workshop facilitators have all be contacted and are getting ready to teach people how to use the new kit! We are hoping with these workshops we're hoping members, old and new, to our community will be able to upskill themselves on how to use different cameras, sound and editing equipment. We have limited number of seats for each workshop to keep numbers small and hope that we can in the future put more workshops on because it's so important to teach people how to use and take care of this kit that we've purchased. We had a great time last week unboxing all of the new kit that we purchased as part of this project. If you missed the live stream, you can go back and watch it here - https://www.youtube.com/live/_pgxUy7pPr8?si=AewOvDXoYYHm-JCE&t=450 As part of that whole day, we updated our inventory and re-labled all of our existing kit as we will be setting up a new way for members and people to rent out the equipment (more details to come!) When we bought some of the products like the laptops, they were on sale! So we've been able to use some of the funds to get additional accessories like laptop mouse, headphones and bags to hold each laptop setup. So now, when people need to rent a laptop, they have literally everything they need to jump in and start editing!! That's it for this week, see you soon!
