More about our impact
The environment
We will be undertaking a wildflower meadow planting around the nets in line with the biodiversity report as part of the planning application, which will improve the ecology in this area of the green space
The local economy
We have been able to attract new members to the cricket club, who pay a membership fee to join.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We have been able to start a women's cricket side who are now able to train (as we didn't have the capacity under the previous nets facility which only had one lane and could not be used when a match was on). We have also been able to increase the number of training sessions we provide to our adult teams and offer more opportunities for young people and juniors to train too.
Arts, culture & heritage
Cricket at Grimsargh dates back to 1949, and this new facility helps ensure we can keep the tradition of playing cricket in the village alive and well for generations to come.
Activity, health and leisure
Our project has increased the number of times we're able to train at the ground, with dozens of adults and junior cricketers undertaking increased physical exercise. We're also able to train for longer than we did previously in terms of the duration of each session.
