Our current outdoor net lanes are no longer able to be used.
They stand forlorn and overgrown in the corner of Grimsargh Green.
The astroturf needs replacing, the metal frames are rusted. They are a sad and sorry sight.
We want to raise funds to help bring our nets into the 21st century and have a set up which helps expand what we do as a cricket club.
We have five adult teams and three junior teams, plus a growing All Stars and Dynamos set up on a Sunday morning helping inspire the next generation of cricket players.
Using the funding generated we will put in a top class outdoor nets facility which will help increase the amount of times as a club we're able to practice during the Spring & Summer (as often the wider pitch is unusable because of the weather) and also help the junior sides develop their batting and bowling techniques by having better access to a training net facility.
What we'll deliver:
- A new training cricket nets two-lane outdoor facility
Why it's a great idea:
We'll be able to train and not damage the main cricket pitch - we currently have to train on the one astroturf pitch with a mobile net which means training has to be cancelled if there's been a bit of rain.
Our junior training is regularly called off due to the lack of facilities and rain.
We also only have one training net lane, this new facility would have two lanes and therefore more players would be able to train at once which will expand the membership of the club at both adult and junior level.
Steps to get it done:
- Ecology report completed to allow planning application submission
- Planning permission secured
- Work starts on new nets
- Work completes on new nets
- Official opening and first nets session!
We are in the process of applying for planning permission from Preston City Council to upgrade the existing nets facility with the new one.
