Power Greener Rowing on the River Dee joined Cheshire West Crowd1 month ago

Grosvenor Rowing Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club based on the River Dee in Chester. We are seeking funding to replace two petrol-powered safety and coaching launch engines with modern electric propulsion systems. The project will replace two Honda BF15 petrol outboards with ePropulsion Navy Evo 6.0 electric outboards, supported by four E60 batteries, side-mount controls and charging equipment. These launches are essential to the safe delivery of rowing activities, providing coaching support, safety cover for juniors and beginners, and operational support for races, regattas and community sporting events. The two launches currently operate for approximately 2,912 hours per year. By switching from petrol to electric propulsion, the club will significantly reduce its environmental impact while maintaining the safety infrastructure that enables hundreds of people to participate in sport on the River Dee each year.

Street Angels Chester is an established, churches-led initiative hosted by Vineyard53 and working in partnership with the police, local council, businesses, and the community to improve safety in Chester city centre during the night-time economy. We send out teams of at least three trained volunteers who patrol the city on Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM, covering 6 to 8 miles each night. We provide non-judgmental care and support to individuals in vulnerable, isolated, or challenging situations, whether that's due to drinking too much, taking drugs, or a mental health crises for example, we are there to help. Through a reassuring presence and active intervention, the teams help to prevent violence and sexual offences, reduce anti-social behaviour, lower the demand on emergency services, and offer a vital listening ear to those in need.

Full Circle: Refill, Reuse and Circular Living joined Cheshire West Crowd1 month ago

Full Circle Phase 2 builds on the success of our existing refill and reuse initiatives. We will establish two new Refill and Reuse Hubs, providing local access to refillable household and personal care products alongside practical advice on reducing waste. We will introduce a refill and reuse trial in two schools, providing equipment, resources and training for pupils and staff. The project will also deliver circular economy workshops and assemblies in up to 25 schools, helping young people understand reduce, reuse, repair, refill and repurpose. To extend our reach, we will create educational videos for residents, schools and community groups and continue expanding access to reusable party kits and event reusables. Together, these activities will make circular living more accessible across Cheshire West.

Free art/play therapy for children & young people
Free art/play therapy for children & young people joined Cheshire West Crowd1 month ago

A lot of our young clients have experienced significant trauma. Due to the pandemic, many missed out on key developmental steps too. This has had all kinds of damaging outcomes. Struggling with school attendance & performance. Increasingly anxiety levels. Difficulties with relationships with family, friends & peers. Feeling overwhelmed & unable to cope. But many can't get help from the NHS. As well as the immediate problems, this is creating a crisis for their futures. Today’s mental health problems will have consequences for their whole life if they aren’t addressed. We make sure they aren't left to struggle on alone. Art & play therapies help younger clients understand & express emotions, feelings & experiences. Our therapist enables them to express themselves through two of their main forms of communication: play & art. We work in local venues like schools & community centres. Our service is free & easily accessible & they can be referred for help in a number of ways.

Delamere Park Solar Sustainability Project
Delamere Park Solar Sustainability Project joined Cheshire West Crowd1 month ago

The Delamere Park Energy Upgrade is a transformative initiative designed to advance sustainability and financial security within the community. By installing 102 solar panels on the clubhouse roof, an external battery, plus energy-efficient external doors, the project will significantly lower annual utility costs while reducing the carbon footprint. Generating approximately 64KWs of renewable electricity per year, the solar system will cut electricity expenses by 54%, making energy use more affordable and less reliant on external sources. The addition of energy-efficient doors will further enhance savings, improve natural light, and create a more welcoming communal space. Over the course of twenty-five years, the project promises enduring financial benefits, with savings reinvested into initiatives that serve the Delamere Park community for generations. This investment not only fortifies energy resilience but also places environmental stewardship at the heart of the community's values.
