The hall was built in 1949 by funds supplied by KCC and
managed by the Womens Institute for many years. Around
1963 a Trust was formed to take over the role. Over the
years various residents of Longfield Hill and members of
local organisations have been invited to be trustees. In
2021 the trustees group was reformed following the sad
passing of a number of trustees over recent years. There was only one trustee remaining. With the help of some local residents, representatives from two of the organisations currently using the hall and a costly solicitor, a new group of eight trustees was registered with the Charity Commission together with a new set of Management Rules/Constitution. The hall has for many years been leased to 1st New Barn Scouts to manage the hall. This has been a successful partnership and in September 2022 the trustees gave 1st New Barn Scouts the permission to run the project to replace the roof, ceiling and windows. 1st New Barn Scouts ran the project as the scouts and guides using the hall would be the main beneficiaries of the project.
All parties agreed that the new project, to which this fundraising initiative relates, should be run by the Longfield Hill Community Hall trustees as it will be the whole community who will benefit from it's success.
