The local economy

The local economy

Local ladies came to the Teeyan celebrations and sold clothes, jewellery and Punjabi shoes. This was successful and they raised income. This benefitted the economy overall.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

Local ladies volunteered to help organise the dancing and supported other activities. This included organising the dancing, keeping registers, serving food, cleaning up afterwards. All jobs were shared out. This gave a sense of achievement and team working.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Cultural Giddha dancing was celebrated. This connected the ladies with their heritage and also shared the dancing with people from other heritages.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Dancing uses all the muscles of our body and so we found that the ladies were feeling healthier and told us stories about their blood sugar and cholesterol levels reducing. We wanted to improve our mental health too and we did this by connecting with others. sharing our problems. Moving and being active helped us feel healthier and happier.
