We are hoping to run a Swimming and multi sports programme to help 30 children with Autism/ADHD gain life skills and experience a range of sports.
We will be bringing a group of children with Autism/ADHD together alongside Neurotypical children to enjoy a programme of Swimming and Multi sports. Our children find it hard socialising and this will hopefully help them gain confidence and meet new friends. The children will be taught lifelong skills, while building friendships, empowering them with knowledge and gaining communication skills which will enable them alongside the Neurotypical to build a better community relationship. We want our children to be accepted and teach others that it's ok to be different.

Why it's a great idea:
Children with Autism/ADHD are often socially isolated. They lack confidence, have problems communicatibg. They struggle with emotions and often have less ability to show empathy.. This programme will bring the children together teaching them both social skills. Letting the Neurotypical child see that the Asd children are the same as them, they may just not have the same likes and dislikes. The Asd children are often obsessed with things for example trains. They will have great knowledge and will know All different makes an models. We want to show the children that it's ok to have different hobbies. We want to teach them patience, gain confidence, learn to turn take, but most of all to be happy and feel accepted

VolunteerWelcome to Belvoir ASD family support group. We came together as a group of dedicated parents of children with Autism/Adhd, to help and support families going through the early days of pre diagnosis and right through to diagnosis. We help families with form filling and making sure they are receiving the correct benefits their children are entitled to. We help and advise with Educational rights. If we can't help then we signpost and refer to those who can. We are all volunteers. Mum's with a passion who care. We hold a weekly coffee morning and also offer 2 social clubs a week. One for Juniors and the other for Seniors. The children love coming to Club where they feel at ease and don't get judged. It also gives parents the opportunity to sit and have a chat.
Once a Month we hold an Advice clinic with our Local MP Emma Pengelly which has been a great success. David Graham who has recently been elected as a Councillor for Balmoral also sits in on the meetings. Before being elected David has been working alongside Emma in her constituency. David was also a Special Advisor for the Minister of Education and therefore very knowledgeable.
