Conservation Progress at Heene Cemetery
We are a group of volunteers who have been working to preserve and improve the meadowland by removing brambles. We are now looking to engage the community with our conservation development plans.
About the Project Creator
Friends of Heene Cemetery are a group of reliable and dedicated volunteers who have been working together for 7 years to improve the green space known as Heene Cemetery.
We aim to promote the health and wellbeing of the residents in the area by encouraging them to volunteer and carry out both environmental improvement and practical conservation.
A sensitive balance of protecting, researching and sharing the heritage within the walls is also part of our work and we encourage more community groups, educational bodies and environmental interest groups to visit and take part in our work.
We meet twice a week on a Tuesday and Saturday afternoon from 2pm-4pm to carry out light conservation work and break for tea/coffee and biscuits and a chat about our progress.
We hold quarterly committee meetings where future planning and development is discussed and agreed.
We are members of Adur/Worthing Community Works, Adur & Worthing Green Spaces Partnership and are about to join Worthing Heritage Alliance.
We have achieved the Green Flag Community Award and proudly fly the flag at our entrance gates.
