School Mindfulness Garden
The Friends of Downs View Infant School want to create a mindfulness garden on the school grounds where students and staff can go to enjoy tranquility, rest, thoughtfulness and reflection.
About the Project Creator
The Friends of Downs View is the Parent/Teacher Association for Downs View Infant School, in Kennington, Ashford, Kent. The Friends is a UK registered charity comprising 4 trustees: the Chair, the Vice Chair, the Treasure and the Secretary. We also have parent volunteers who sit on the committee and support our fundraising events. All parents/career with children at Downs View Infant School and all staff have membership in the Friends.
The Friends exist to support the school and pupils at the school. We raise funds to provide resources, both large and small for the school, which wouldn’t be funded otherwise. In recent years the Friends have purchased reading books, outdoor and classroom learning resources, and sports equipment to the school.
All members of the Friends are volunteers - we have no operating costs. We donate our time, mileage, and resources ensuring that all money raised by the Friends goes back to supporting the school and its 270 pupils.
We work towards the vision and values of the school: Every child (everybody) matters, Every child (everybody) succeeds and Altogether we love, learn, respect and have fun.
Downs View Infant School is a three-form entry, with pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2. We have 270 pupils across the school in nine classrooms with 30 pupils each.
