Spring is here and work has officially begun on the Downs View Infant School Mindfulness garden! Two weeks ago, Jay, a parent of a child in the school, volunteered his time and expertise in tree surgery to help prepare the site. While we love the beautiful trees that surround and frame the area that will become the mindfulness garden, some work had to be done to remove a bit of their canopy to allow more light for the plants. Jay spent a morning with us cutting back and clearing away some of the branches. Using his chain saw, Jay also helped cut some of the trunks that were donated for seating down to size - saving us a lot of work with a hand saw! Next, a team of volunteers came in on two consecutive Saturdays to plant and weave the willow structure. I think you will agree they did an amazing job. Even though there is much left to do, the form of the final space is starting to take shape. Thank you to all who gave up their precious free time to help this project move forward! The Friends Committee are planning out the next steps for the garden and will be reaching out in the next few weeks to many of you who volunteered your time and expertise to help make this a reality. A huge thank you to all of you whose support for this project has made this happen!
